Have You Been Stuck in the Quick-Fix Trap? by Dr. Keira Barr

Have You Been Stuck in the Quick-Fix Trap?

The biggest problem with skin care products, potions, and procedures isn’t that they don’t work at all. It’s that they don’t address the deeper problem.

You can’t exfoliate your way out of anxiety and overwhelm. You can’t exfoliate away the insecurities, the unworthiness, the obsession, the need for perfection. Treating the surface issues, won’t heal the root of the problem.

What will help you unshackle yourself once and for all is addressing the pain that underlies all of these surface-level feelings of rejection.

The truth is that not one of us leaves this life unscathed. We all have pain and hurts and difficulties that we need to overcome.

It’s not about avoiding the painful events in your life. It’s not about disconnecting or distracting yourself from the uncomfortable emotions. It’s about building resilience.

Covering up our hurt with procedures or lavish expenditures may seem like a good “quick fix” but just like all quick fixes, the fix won’t last. But if you learn how to bounce back from all of it and move forward, if you learn how to be resilient, that will last.

Eight years ago, I thought I was in the best shape of my life. I was running ultra-marathons, eating “healthy”, wearing sunscreen, had an academic career and was juggling kids, work, and date nights with my husband. I thought I had it all figured out.

Until one day I found a spot on my arm that didn’t look like any of the others. My heart sank. I knew it had changed. I knew something was wrong. That was the day I had the extreme displeasure of having to diagnose myself with the most deadly form of skin cancer there is..melanoma. And my neatly ordered world began to fall apart.

Imagine. I’m a skin cancer expert. And I was living my own worst nightmare.
Because it turns out that I actually hadn’t been doing everything right and that cancer was only the tip of the iceberg.

I thought I was really “healthy.” But in the months that followed my diagnosis I literally went from being an ultra runner to barely being able to move. My health crumbled. My body was in complete rebellion. My hormones were totally out of balance. And as a result, my health and my life was shattering…piece by piece.

Skin cancer was the wake up call for me. It made me stop and take notice. And it made me take action.

You don’t need skin cancer to stop and take notice. Whether you’re facing a health crisis or challenges in your business, or your relationships, or your finances…

When you’ve been covering up for so long, there’s only one way to absolutely turn things around. You have TO GET NAKED on all levels.

You have to really examine your life and find all the ways that you’re covering up the things you don’t want to notice.

For me, my body had to shout at me and give me cancer to help me see how unbalanced I was in all areas of my life.

You see, the stuff that is the surface can be a helpful guide to understanding what’s actually happening underneath–the real problem. And that’s true both literally and metaphorically.

Being truly beautiful, being truly healthy isn’t about looking away from yourself and just ignoring the parts you don’t like. It’s about truly paying attention.

And this cycle of ignoring the cues our body is giving us is what I am committed to breaking every single day. With everything I have learned in medicine, health and wellness…
I took notice and took action and created a step by step method that has not only revolutionized my health, but has also helped me redefine the meaning of skincare.
And that’s how I help my clients today.

Taking notice.. It’s a game changer.
I’ve gone from having biopsies every few months over the span of a decade to requiring ZERO biopsies in the last 8 years.
Today I’m:
Skin cancer free
Running again
And my health has never been better!

I’ve totally revitalized my life and my body and I didn’t have to follow trends or invest in fad products because I cracked the code to a multibillion dollar problem!

Your outer reflection can be a window into your overall state of wellbeing. What shows up on the surface is demanding that you look deeper into what’s going on beneath it and take notice. But that doesn’t happen when you just slather on a quick fix and cover up the painful spots.

Let me repeat myself – breaking free of the mental, physical, and emotional shackles holding you back is not about avoiding the painful events in your life. It’s not about disconnecting from or distracting from the uncomfortable emotions you’re feeling or trying to forget about the past.
It’s about leveraging that experience to propel you forward towards the life you crave.

Look, you can try the quick fixes, test out the latest fad products, diets and procedures, but chances are the fix will be just that….. “quick”…and then you’ll be looking for the next big thing.

If you’re exhausted because you’re spending 90% of your time searching for the next best thing and just 10% of your time focusing on you..…

Flip those percentages on their head…– turn inward, tune in and take notice.

And then have the right support in place so when you strip away the layers you’ve hidden away and you know what you want for yourself, you get amazing value and results.

Double down on the things that work. And release the blocks that are creating your self sabotage.

Are you ready to go “Skinny Dipping” and strip away those layers, so you can start looking and feeling your best for the long term?
